December 2021 Board Meeting
The December 8, 2021 Board meeting will be held in-person at 5:00 PM at the office of Lisa M Rector CPA PC (212 S. Chestnut St, Woodland Park). This meeting will include our annual Budget Hearing. If you are a customer of the Water District and are interested in attending, please e-mail TellerWater@gmail.com as soon as possible with your contact information and question or comment. You may also sign up in-person at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the Board meeting.
Important Information About Your Drinking Water: Q4 2021 Update
Dear Residents,
As you are aware, the District is experiencing elevated levels of Radium 226/228 in the water.
The Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL), as set by the State, is 5 pCi/L. Radium is tested on a quarterly basis. If the average of the prior four quarters is above 5 pCi/L, we are in violation of health department regulations and required to notify all residents.
The 2021 fourth quarter Radium level is 7.6 pCi/L and the four quarter average is 6.28 pCi/L.
Our Water Operator is communicating regularly with the engineering firm JDS Hydro regarding treatment options and estimated cost. The Board and JDS Hydro have agreed that HMO filtration is the most viable treatment option for the District. The biggest obstacle continues to be the disposal of the radium waste. The Board is exploring several options for disposal. Designing and implementing a treatment solution is a lengthy process. The District is in compliance with Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) requirements for reporting, planning and implementing a solution to the radium violation. The Board is working diligently to rectify the problem as quickly and cost effectively as possible. Thank you for your patience.

NOTICE OF BUDGET HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the proposed budget has been submitted to Teller County Water & Sanitation District #1 (“TCWSD#1”) for the ensuing year of 2022. That a copy of such proposed budget has been filed in the office of TCWSD#1, at the treatment plant (201 Piute Trail, Woodland Park, Colorado) where the same is open for public inspection. It is also posted on the website www.tellerwater1.com.
This budget will be finalized and adopted at a public Budget Hearing (during the regular TCWSD#1 Board meeting) on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 5:00 PM at the office of Lisa M Rector CPA PC, 212 S. Chestnut St, Woodland Park, Colorado. Any interested customer of such TCWSD#1 may inspect the proposed budget and file or register any comments or objections thereto at any time prior to the final adoption of the budget.
